Lake Michigan Lighthouses In and Near Benzie County

 

With 25 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, Benzie is home to two lighthouses.

Point Betsie Lighthouse

 

Point Betsie, a treasured icon, is maintained by The Friends of Point Betsie along with Benzie County. Their mission is to provide historical, educational, and environmental stewardship. More information about the history of Point Betsie and tours can be found on their website.

Frankfort North Breakwater Lighthouse

 

 

 

This lighthouse sits on the end of Frankfort's north pier and is easily accessable when lake conditions are good. Except in winter you will find fishermen and women of all ages on the pier with their poles.

Other Lake Michigan Lighthouses

 

Other Lake Michigan lighthouses are within driving distance. These include Robert Manning Memorial Lighthouse in Empire, South Manitou Island Lighthouse by ferry to the island, Grand Traverse Lighthouse in Leelenau State Park, Old Mission Point north of Traverse City, and Manistee North Pierhead Light in Manistee.
