{ Winterfest: } One of our winter celebrations in February with fun activities for kids and adults like the frozen fish toss--how far can you throw a frozen fish? Bonfires on the beach of Crystal Lake and Fireworks top it off. Fireworks in the snow--something special to see!
: Come celebrate the salmon run up Betsie River and Platte River in late August. Honor is considered the "birthplace of salmon"in Michigan. Learn more about Cohos and Kings by visiting the State Fish Hatchery and join the Fishing Frenzy to catch the biggest.
: A new addition to fall activities and another good reason to make plans for your Fall Color Tour in Northwest Michigan.
: Another new addition to Winter Fun in our area. This event is held in Frankfort and hosts a Sno Cross Snowmobile racing event. Ice carvings, great food and fun! There is beauty along the shores of Lake Michigan in the winter created by wind, waves, and cold temperatures. Third Annual Shiver by the River is February 19th & 20th, 2011.

Bring your camera and join us on a One Hour cruise to Point Betsie and back. Enjoy the scenery from the water on the comfort our our tour boat. Cushioned seating, restrooms, heated enclosed cabin and open upper deck. Ticket prices for the Point Betsie Cruise: Adults - $18.00, Children 6-12 - $8.00, Children 5 and under are free.
Sleeping Bear Dunes Cruises also offers a 2 hour 45 minute daily cruise to Sleeping Bear Dunes at 11:00am and a popular sunset cruise.

TWO garden visits in Leelanau County! 10am. visit Bellweather Gardens outside of Suttons Bay. Gail Ingraham, owner, will give us an introduction to Michigan native plants and a tour her garden center. Plants will also be for sale. After lunch on your own, meet at Kay Charter's Saving Birds Thru Habitat at 1pm. for a program on Prairies and Fall Migrating Birds. She has a fabulous stand of Little Blue Stem grass and other prairie plants for us to see. Kay will share her knowledge of birds who benefit from her habitat restoration. Plant Wild is an independent, non-profit, native plant group based in Benzie and Manistee Counties.
Sponsored by The Friends of the Betsie Valley District Library and Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa. Runners & walkers choose between a 5K (3.1 mile), 10K (6.2 mile) or half marathon (13.1 mile) distance, & children can get a workout in the family-friendly one mile event. Adult runs & walking events begin at 9am at Crystal Mountain with the child’s event starting at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds support the Betsie Valley Library. The Races feature: Cash Prizes for Half Marathon, Professional Timing, Drawing for Overnight Stays at Crystal, Post-Race Refreshments, Child’s Event, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Medals in Each, Finisher Pins, Age Category, Water Stops. Registration $25 per person, $30 day of the event.
